The Columbian Exchange was the worst event to happen in history. There was the killing of natives. The large scale slavery of Africans. Along with the destruction of the two worlds various cultures. Its long term effects still matter to us to this day.

The killing of the natives was one of the terrible things that happened during the Columbian Exchange. One of the largest causes of death was disease. The natives had no natural resistance to European diseases (Doc 1). The four big diseases killed millions. The diseases killed the Incan and Aztec rulers which touched off wars spreading disease even better (Doc 8). The Inca empire went from 13 million in 1492 to 2 million in 1600 (Doc 1). The natives all suffered because of the Columbian Exchange.

The large scale slavery of Africans was not only immoral but deadly. According to document 9 slaves was nothing but a new form a cattle to the Europeans and were treated as such. They were forced to use their skills in farming in the new world. Some Africans had farmed rice at home, they knew how to get a high yield and so they were forced to work in rice farms (Doc 3). Before, the natives were a nomadic people who followed the buffaloes (doc 8). The Native Americans and more so the apache, used the horses to become formidable warriors (Doc 2). The European people brought back potatoes and tomatoes among other things (doc 1). The Italians eventually used the tomatoes in their dishes, and the Irish decided that potatoes were the next best thing in the coming of Christ and basically only ate potatoes destroying their original cuisine (doc 8). Asian people used sweet potatoes as a staple for the poor and took advantage of corns easy growing (doc 8).
