Imperialism Essay Imperialism improved the lives of the colonized to small extent. Although, in some ways imperialism improved the lives of the native people in Africa by improving infrastructure, to a great extent imperialism made life worse because the it created a food shortage for the natives in the colonies and brutalized the natives of the belgian congo.
Nevertheless, Imperialism improved infrastructure of the colonized people in Africa.
Life in Africa was made better through infrastructure. Before, the British government came Africa was filled with small tribes and there was dispute among them. The tribes hated each other some much that the sold the opposite tribesmen by kidnapping them and selling them on slave trade. This in a way …show more content…
This shows that an average African at that time was actually happier living with the British rather than his usual life. This shows that in the African’s point of view imperialism was actually beneficial to Africa. In the DBQ 8: Imperialism in India in Document 1 says that britain brought infrastructure and stable government to india as a positive that left no responsibility for the people to uphold said by Gandhi. According to the author in Document 1 the benefits of imperialism to the colonizers was infrastructure in India. The colonizers developed the territory by building roads, canals, railways and telegraphs.
