Honor codes systems are a set of rules that requires one to be honest about what they write, which basically mean to not plagiarize. Plagiarism is a huge felony everywhere and especially in schools. Honor code systems should be revised because students do not fully understand their role, honor codes pledges do not explain the consequences and students also fear that if they report an incident of plagiarism it will not stay confidential. Honor code systems fail to confront the consequences if not followed properly. Students claim they thought (a pledge of honor for each piece of paper submitted was excessive, but less frequent pledge of honor could be a helpful reminder of their responsibilities.) (Source B). This claims that teachers and professors do not explain in detail the consequences; which makes us the student population not have an interest about what will happen in the hereafter for the reason that the pledge does not state it. Source B exclaims that…show more content… “Creating a culture of dishonesty.” everyone would defend each other so none would get in trouble since the cheaters have been plagiarizing for a long time they will begin to think they will never get exposed, and will try to get the easy way out of writing essays. Source B also states that young people are terrified to expose their friend in fear of the conversation not being confidential. “They feared a mandate to confront peers would create friction and that a subsequent report could not easily be kept confidential.” this would cause distress and failure to confront the situation which would not help have an end to this. Altering the consequences and also having a new pledge to the people in charge which would state for them and have a oath to not expose the students who are subsequently doing the right
