In document 1 it talks about how the Maguey plant was a large advancement to that time. Since they had only raised cotton in warmer and wetter climates, they could use the leaves in many ways such as for roof tiles, footwear, cloth, and plates. They had also used the juice from the plant which could make sugar so they could produce wine, honey, vinegar, and sugar. The plant itself could have been used for fencing and firewood so lumber wouldn't have to be grown or cut.

The boys were taught how to hunt, fish, woodworking, and farming. The girls were taught how to cook, sweep, spindling, and embroidery. Today kids are taught subjects such as math, english, history, science, and technology.

But know we have technology such as telescopes and other technology to help scientists figure out the celestial bodies.
