When the Greek word techne first appeared in English in the 17th century, it was used to mean a discussion of the applied arts only, and gradually these “arts” themselves changed and evolved. Another example of influence is stated in Document D. Document D shows a survey with the question of what the individual uses technology for. The main reason being for loved ones; the other options chosen to show great influence, a common theme in today's society. The options mainly follow a trend of just filling up free time, seeing what's new, following trends, etc. The options decided in the survey show what people are interested in when going online, which is to see what others are interested in, all following one another. For this reason, the internet can be very addicting, always wanting to know what's going on in others lives or trending. In Document C, it states, “in greater forms and with greater intensities than ever before.” This further proves the influence of technology; the description of greater intensities alone shows how interpersonal people will feel when simply following another stranger online, and to keep up with trends, how important it feels.
