When talking about auditioning for roles in movies, the speaker , Linda Bove made it clear that she believed Deaf people should play Deaf character roles. Linda felt that it was unfair to all Deaf actors when hearing people are given the role to play Deaf characters. Linda gives an example of having equal access. In one situation, they were very accepting of her having the Deaf role and they asked her opinion and what she did and didn’t feel comfortable with. She later talked about a role she was going to audition for but she was told no. It was decided a hearing person would play the role of the Deaf character not a Deaf person.
