1. Introduction For my Mental Health Character Assessment, I chose Dean Winchester from the television series “Supernatural” to represent Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. At the beginning of the show, Dean may have experienced some PTSD when his mother was murdered; however after he survived a trip to Hell, he experienced his first signs of PTSD. He has multiple flashbacks of the incident, anger outbursts, and other traits that are identified in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, which will be identified in this paper along with a diagnosis

Dean is A&O x3 and is able to follow verbal commands. Dean is appropriately dressed, adequate hygiene, and well-groomed with a clean-shaven face; however displays bags under both eyes. Dean presents with no recent head trauma and no evidence of lacerations or skull injuries. His mouth contains all 32 teeth, which are clean and intact with no presence of decay. His gums and cheeks are pink and moist, but have scar from continual chewing. Dean’s nares are patent and mucus is present. Dean’s heart rate and BP were elevated above normal levels, and his respirations were increased; however his SpO2 was WNL. His eyes are bloodshot with slight irritation. Lungs are strong upon auscultation in all regions bilaterally and breath sounds are equal. Heart sounds are WNL, with a present S1 and S2 and without S3 and S4. Dean’s reflexes are present, but they are delayed. Dean is avoidant when the topic of hell is brought up in conversation, and he is prone to aggressive language and body language when comments are made concerning his younger brother
