In Lord of the Flies by William Golding readers discover an enticing fiction of several boys trapped on an island with no adults to guide them on how to survive. These boys were on a plane that crash landed and they are the only survivors. In their experience on the island they encounter power struggles and division as they try to survive long enough to be saved. Unfortunately many of them have a different fate as you will find out. We learn that in their struggle for power that no form of government will survive human nature. When they have a democratically elected leader people are upset when things aren’t happening fast enough. Due to this they turn to a dictator who becomes a tyrant. Throughout the story Golding allows for the boys to evolve on the idea of death by allowing at the beginning for boys like Jack to be very nervous of the idea of killing an animal for food, but his attitude toward this changes dramatically.
