Death of a Salesman

Every story needs a soundtrack. The soundtrack of a story helps set the tone and gives the readers a better understanding of what is going on in the film. Music helps provide more emotion so the reader gets a deeper feeling through the beats and rhythm of the music. Depending on the each scene the mood differs. Throughout the play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, the songs Inception by Logic, Chasing Pavements by Adele , and If I Never See Your Face Again by Maroon 5 and Rihanna fully describe important scenes in the play. Willy Loman’s character is best described as an ambitious one. His mind is full of dreams and goals that he wants him and his sons to achieve. During one of Willy’s flashbacks late in the play, Willy dreams of leaving his family a fortune with the insurance money by killing himself. The song Inception by Logic is all about realizing how many times you have made a mistake to now finally get it right. “ I’m like a seed planted in the dirt. The character that this would represent is Biff’s mentality throughout the whole play. Chasing Pavements is about someone who fails to make up their mind on either doing what makes them happy, or do what makes others happy. Adele sings” Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements even if it leads to nowhere”. Biff is chasing pavements, trying to follow his dreams by going out west and being a cowboy working on a farm. Biff likes to do what makes him happy, but what makes him happy doesn’t make his father happy. “ i can’t face him like that! I’ll try elsewhere… You don’t want to be anything, is that what’s behind it?” (112). In this scene at Frank’s Chop House, Willy is being persistent about Biff going into Oliver’s office even after Biff tells his father that he steals his fountain
