In this article about the death of Emmett Till the author brought many things to light, such as the unjust ways of the court systems and the harsh reality of the racism that had taken place in the mid 1950’s.The author tells how Till was brutally murdered for being accused of making sexual slurs towards a white woman. The case of Till’s death quickly captured national attention, and many newspapers along with white officials stated that “decent” people were disgusted with the murder. Back in the mid 1950’s a young African American named Emmett Till was accused of sexauly harassing a white woman, due to this accusation Till was kidnapped brutally murdered by two white men. Emmett's mother had his body shipped back to Chicago and had an open casket so people could see what happened to her son. In Mamie Bradley's word’s, “Two months ago I had a nice apartment in Chicago. I had a good job. I had a son. When something happened to the Negroes in the south I said, That’s their business, not mine. Now I know how wrong I was. The murder of my son has shown me that what happens to any of us, anywhere in the world, had better be the business for us all.” Blacks from the North nor the South will forget what had happened.
