In the novel Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller expresses what he feels American lifestyle is. The theme of this novel is that American people are hard workers, also that high positions in jobs are netter and you are not considered a useless person. Some people get good jobs because of the pay, but not because they enjoy doing it. In the novel, Willie is the father and he works as a salesman. Most of the tome he seemed miserable and not happy. He also judges his son Biff because he works in a farm. Willie says he doesn’t have a life, also that he is lazy. Willie has another son named Happy, he is like the father, he had a good job and he has a lot of women but is unhappy. Willie and Happy are both alike because they are miserable and both have a good job. Willie doesn’t spend much time at home, which caused him to cheat on his wife. Happy only sees women as objects. They both have what is consider to be the American lifestyle, Arthur Miller never points out they are happy; the only thing that this has brought them is frustration and unhappiness.
