Our constitution was set into place as a way of making sure that power was spread equally and that no one took away the rights of one another. The constitution sets guidelines for the way our country is run; these guidelines are often interpreted in different ways. It is the lack of specificity that causes controversy to occur among the people. The constitution's eighth amendment prohibits the federal government from imposing excessive bail, fines, or cruel and unusual punishment which tends to clash with the death penalty as the death penalty punishes individuals legally convicted of a capital crime.
