The con side claims that the death penalty is unconstitutional and that the government cannot give itself the right to take a life. The pro side claims that the death penalty is best for society and is valuable in maintaining order in the justice system. Between these two sides, I stand on the pro side for these reasons: the death penalty provides closure to the victim’s family, it deters future crimes, and it balances the good and evil in our justice system.
