Gowtham Yerneni The death penalty has long been argued and many people have come to different conclusions on the issue. The con side claims that the death penalty is unconstitutional and that the government cannot give itself the right to take a life. The pro side claims that the death penalty is best for society and is valuable in maintaining order in the justice system. Between these two sides, I stand on the pro side for these reasons: the death penalty provides closure to the victim’s family, it deters future crimes, and it balances the good and evil in our justice system. In the interest of a victim’s family, the death penalty is the best punishment for the criminal; the family wants to know that the murderer has paid the price for his
