Humans. They cheat, kill, lie, deceive and manipulate others to get themselves out of trouble. Humans, and their aptness to use others as a patsy and scapegoat to liberate themselves from danger, is greatly shown by Arthur Miller in his play of the Puritan Society. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller shows humans’ natural inclination for survival as it relates to the real world. He shows not only people’s nact to use false accusation to save themselves, but also how people run from their problems rather than solving them. Throughout the play, we notice that this is caused by fear and regreting of their actions. While also shows how one's life does not outweigh their morals.
The people in The Crucible use false accusations to save themselves. In the story, Abigail's uses others as a pushover to save herself from trouble. After asking Tituba to help her be rid of Goody Proctor, Abigail blames her on using witchcraft to come to her dreams at night. Abigail blames Tituba so that she would not get into trouble for dancing in the woods, practicing witchcraft.

As Abigail Williams continues her false accusations against others, Marry Warren comes to the court with a deposition, telling the court of their lies. After agreeing upon to her deposition, Abigail blames Mary Warren of witchcraft. Knowing that she is outnumbered by Abigail and her party’s strength over the court, she blames John Proctor for using witchcraft against her, and forcing her to sign the deposition. Mary Warren noticed that she was soon to fall under the power of Abigail, and used John as a scapegoat to get out of
