In the story The Open Window it is a very interesting story showing how one man can develop his characters into telling something and not really meaning it. In this story The Open Window Saki tells a very interesting story about deception. Deception is the act of deceiving someone. There are many ways that this is shown in the story. In the beginning of the story it starts out with a man named Mr. Framton, who is not doing well because he is stressed and he has to go away for a while. As we read the story we get to see how deceving the little girl can be to Mr. Framton. Such as the thrilling story that she told him about her aunt's husband and son leaving. As the little girl first started to talk to Mr. Framton, she stated, "Her great tragedy happened just three years ago," said the child; "that would be since your sister's time." The importance of this is this is the first of multiple signs of deception in the story. This is a sign of deception because this is the start of the little girl deceiving Mr. Framton. This is important to deception because by the little girl starting to talk about this it spiked the idea to the readers that she is trying to deceive Mr. Framton. For example because little girl is trying to fool Mr. Framton it is starting to become more believable to him. This is important to showing deception in the story because this is the start of the little girl trying to deceive Mr. Framton. The way that this relates to my life is because just like the little girl my family like to tell stories that will worry us just to deceive us. Also with the girl mentioning this it will start to make Mr. Famton’s nerves start again even though he is supposed to be in a place where there is nothing that can worry him.
