In the Declaration of Independence it gives Americans the rights of freedom that most people in other countries can’t say they have. The Declaration shapes our government and the culture of the United States it also helps with the people we chose in our government. Around 1776 before writing the Declaration of Independence there was a long list of grievances towards Britain and they had a statement of the ideals on the government. Citizens in the United States have a say in what happens, for example we can vote for people to be our president, representatives, and many other careers. There are three ideals that are significant in the Declaration of Independence. One out of the three ideals is natural rights,people in general should have rights that can't be taken away, for example some include the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Without equality people would think they are above or less than anyone because of their race, gender, age or even religion. Equality means to be equal no matter what a person looks like and to have chances to better one's life. An example would be Diana Pham who wrote about her meaning of equality since being in America, “My daughters, like other Americans, had an equal opportunity to succeed. America has given our family the chance to become whatever we chose to become (Document A).” This shows how equality can change ones life by giving someone an opportunity and how important one's life out of many can be to the world.
