Defining Marketing

Marketing is the activity, set of institutions and process for creativity, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large (“American Marketing Association”, 2013). My definition of marketing is a discussion of services and products being sold to people. The people are the reason that a product is being sold. On the other hand, Kolter and Keller, 2011 states, “Marketing is about identifying and meeting human needs or meeting needs profitably.
Marketing is important to the sellers as well as the buyers. Marketing new products have helped improve people lives around the world. Marketing not only inspires the seller, but it inspires the buyer as well. There will always be a need for something and there will always be people who needs or wants something new. The only thing that is left to do is to make that product available to the buyers.
Whether the business is a large business or a small business, marketing is important. A company’s success mainly depends on their marketing strategies along -side other business functions in which they may have. Marketing helps create awareness about the product and bring in customer. Any company is most likely not the only company that may be selling that particular product. It allows the organization to grasp the bigger picture and make a big name for themselves as well as getting customers and making them loyal customers.
Some businesses learn the hard way about the importance of marketing, Professional marketing never hurt a business. There is a company that has this great product that has great features, it has the best quality like no other, and it has an out of this world package. What is wrong with this product? Nothing, it is just that no one knows about the product. There will be no demand for this particular product. The company is not making any sales and there will not be any profit being made. Again, there is a need for marketing, because the people need to know that this product is out there.
Not long ago, companies marketed by putting their ads in newspapers or on the televisions. Those are still good means to marketing, but they are not the only ways. More and more people are surfing the web. A good way to market a company or a product is to invest in a webpage. The web page has to be an eye catcher and is easy to navigate through. The information must constantly be updated because the buyer will not want to come to a webpage that has the same “old stuff” on it every time. Social networking gives businesses another way to get their company’s name out there.
Popeye’s is known for mainly one thing: good chicken. The chicken is the product that has given their business a good reputation and the consumers the best chicken possible., If the customer is not happy with their order, Popeye’s will replace it at no additional cost. To…
