What is friendship? The dictionary defines friendship as a friendly relation or attitude, however it is so much more complex. Life can be tough, therefore friendship has a very important role in our lives. We all need someone in our busy everyday life to share our opinions, sadness, happiness, achievements and loss with. Family is vital, but our friends add an exciting spark to life that can’t be duplicated. It’s essential to maintain healthy relationships and have people we are close to. Some people will be friendly towards you, but when times are tough, they’re nowhere to be found. It’s important to have someone that will support you in your bad times, but to be supportive during the good times is also essential. Friends can develop jealously of your success and achievements, but that true good friend will be celebrating right along with you. Additionally, being loyal also comes with responsibility. We need friends that can keep our deepest secrets, won’t gossip behind our backs, and will defend us when needed. It can be difficult to stand up for a friend, but they will always do their best to stick up for you when you’re in trouble. Trust goes hand in hand with loyalty. A good friend won’t try to steal things from you or try to damage you. An honest, straightforward friend is a good one. They will make sure to let you know when they are concerned and will make situations ten times easier by being upfront about it. A good friend is also someone that is still friend regardless of the miles in between you two. College, work, and family matters can separate the best of friends, but only true friends will be able to pick off where things left off when reunited. The friends that can continue to grow with you even when you’re apart are definitely worth
