This noble quote means that anyone could be envious, but those who choose not to will lead a better, healthier, more faithful life. Those who are envious will live a life of guilt, hatred, and misfortune. The definition of envy is the feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by anothers possessions, qualities, or luck. It was envy of God that caused the fall of the angels. The devils came into existence through envy; envy is what brought on the fall of our first parents. People are always wanting more than they have, wanting bigger and better opportunities. Many people believe that they simply did not receive what they should of from God, they feel as if God gave all the good, lucky qualities to everyone but them, and they are willing to do everything in their power to destroy that person/object. Envy is present in the world in a variety of expressions, such as a person wanting what another person has because it is better than what they have, or because they do not have it. Another illustration of envy is taking advantage of another person because they are more talented, smarter, or better-looking. Cheating, stealing others possessions, putting someone down, and trying to embarrass, or make others look bad are all ways that people show how they are envious. People often steal others possessions because they want it, or think they need it, so they take it. That is why many robberies take place now days, because people are too lazy to go out and work for what they want, so they just steal it …show more content…
Some people even go to extremes, getting plastic surgery to look like another person, trying to dress, talk, and act like the person or object they envy. People also often try embarrassing others that they envy simply because they want the attention that person is receiving, and they want to lower the actual stature of whom/what they envy, so they can be on top and feel dominant, while others have forgotten about the other.
