As I print my name across every paper I receive, it was years later that I found out the symbolic meaning behind those seven letters that make up what everyone calls me today. From the start of learning to write and know my own name, I never liked it. To me, my name, “William,” was too common. When I went to school, there would always be another boy with the same first name or a similar name like “Bill” or “Will.” I liked names that were rare and simple, but the name “William” was going to be with me for my whole life. The reason my parents chose my name was because I was a twin. They wanted a name with the same number of sounds or syllables. My twin sister’s name was Vivian, which was three syllables. But instead, it was that both my first and last name began with letters at the end of the alphabet. In grade school, I was often the last student to get out of the classroom and go to lunch. Throughout my six years of grade schooling, I was left with the worst lunches unless one of the students with names starting with letters in the beginning of the alphabet didn’t get their food. Also, with a name that starts with letters at the end of the alphabet, I had to sit in front of the teacher, which I greatly disliked. I felt like teachers would ask more questions to the people in the front row. Being extremely shy in school, I was extremely intimidated when teachers asked me questions or even talked to me. Also, I used to talk a lot in school, so sitting in front of the teacher was the worst choice because they would catch me every time I even opened my mouth. With letters near the end of the alphabet, my name was the main reason for getting the worst lunches in grade school and getting in trouble every day with the teacher always keeping a close eye on
