Delano is a devoted gullible Protestant, who is trusting rational and has pride. He leads with vigor, and this goes along with the belief that Americans hold the view that their culture is superior to other culture of the world. The approach contradicts Cereno’s skepticism in which the character questions an action before advancing any move. Based on the characters action, the American Protestant values are thought to be superior to the Catholic values of the olden days. He is sure that all his men are accounted for as well as being on board since he is proud of them as well as his control over them.
