Delegating Moment In Nursing

In this paper I will speak upon a specific delegating task that was given to me when I first changed my hours to second shift. At my job, like any other nursing job, if someone suffers from a fall or has a skin tear or a sort of bruising the nurse in charge is supposed to prepare an incident report. The first time I had to file my own incident report was when a patient had fell. We normally have a weekday and weekend supervisor on staff. This fall happened during a weekend shift. When incident happened, the weekend supervisor told me to assess the patient since I am an RN. In the facility I work at, the DNS had posted on our home page that only the supervisor is allowed to assess patients that have become a victim of falling. Due to the fall, my patient sustained a minor injury. When I asked what I needed to do she became frustrated and asked me if I was an RN. I told her yes as she proceeded to tell me in a rush what to do. So I proceeded to look for the information about the POA so I could notify the family, she interrupted and called the MD, due to the fact she wanted to know if he wanted to send the patient out for an x-ray due to a C/O of back pain. When the supervisor she hung up the phone, she looked at the man and asked if I had notified the family. I said to her no only to see what the MD wanted to do first before I called her not to have to call the family 2Xs back to back. I had prepared my incident report as best to my knowledge since it was in fact the first one I had ever filled before. When I turned the document in to my supervisor she began to correct all the mistakes and made me re-write the whole thing. I can understand sometimes that is the only way someone will
