DELIVERING BREAD AT THE HELTON BAKING COMPANY

This article will analyze the effectiveness of Helton Baking Company’s employee training program by looking at how it follows the steps in the instructional process and how it falls short. It will also look at how Helton’s program could be more effective.

Helton Baking Company was originally founded by three brothers over 50 years ago; the company has diversified and grown to product over 1000 different food products, employing more than 10 000 people.

e) Provide on-the-job reinforcement. The manger will also go through the same training that they will give the trainee so to ensure that they understand what the trainee needs to learn and reinforces that behavior when they are instructing new trainees.

Behavior Modeling is a better method of training as people remember 45% of what they hear and see but 70% of what they hear, see and DO.

4) Ensuring training is used on the job.
Currently Helton does not have anything implemented to ensure that the trainee is using what they learnt in the training program on the job. Once the one week of training is finished, the only contact the trainee has with the manager is if the trainee calls the manager with a questions. The Manger does not know if what was taught is being put in place. The manager should be proactive in contacting the trainee to see how they are, if they have any questions and re-enforce any important points that where covered in the OJT / Behavior Modeling. The Manger might also consider contacting the customer to get feed back from them on the job the trainee is doing.

5) Determine whether the training programs are effective.
Currently Helton does not have anything implemented to determine whether the training program is effective. Helton also need to determine if the training has been effective. This can be done in a number of ways including
