Demonic Identity In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

At this moment Viktor has found his own demonic identity. To create the monster: Viktor had to himself be in some way monstrous and with his creation comes the realization of what he has done. His further abandonment of the creature is an example of Viktor lacking any morals or responsibility. The misuse of science and encroachment into religion and God’s powers has caused Viktor to lose himself. After leaving the creature and wandering the streets Viktor falls asleep and: “Morning, dismal and wet, at length dawned and discovered to my sleepless and aching eyes the church of Ingolstadt, its white steeple and clock, which indicated the sixth hour.” (Shelley 60) The church draws Viktor back from his demonic identity and he seeks out company.
