What were the underlying theories identified in the training? The Board of Dentistry designed the Dental Assisting program to train students to gain the knowledge to provide patient care to provide customer satisfaction. Learning the procedures to be able to discuss with the patient the step-by-step process so he/she will know what to expect during his or her procedure. Applying good hygiene is one of the most important things I can do for my teeth and gums. I only get one set of teeth after losing all of my primary teeth (baby teeth). Having my teeth healthy and present can help me eat as well as speak properly. I have learned that if you are uneducated about the importance of teeth and keeping them clean then you are at a higher risk for gingivitis, which will lead to periodontitis. Periodontitis is a disease of the gums and can be maintained but the disease is irreversible and over time the disease eats away your bone around the teeth, furthermore, the teeth becomes loose and eventually falls out.
I stress to my patients as well as friends and family the repercussion of poor hygiene and what can happen if you do not visit the dentist twice a year for cleanings and checkups. With my training allows me to educate my daughter what it means to have healthy teeth so she can pass it down to her children. I feel like I can make a difference in somebody’s life educating them and letting them pass it down to their children. I can transform lives every day by being apart of restoring teeth while boosting self-esteem and giving people the confidence to smile
