Dental Hygienist
Dental Hygienist is an occupation that specializes in scaling and polishing teeth , is a career I wish to pursue to for the rewards of helping others, teaching people the importance of clean teeth, getting to learn more about teeth and how to keep them well maintenance. I always remember going to work with my mom who is a dental assistant and helping her with the little things in the office. I pretty much grew up watching people getting their teeth cleaned and I’ve always enjoyed getting mine done. Knowing all the key qualities of being a hygienist is very important. Coming from a family who has worked in the dental field all their lives will really help me in the long run.

Dental hygienist’s must have a high level of social contact. Also, dental hygienist's are responsible for the health and safety of others. Finally, dental hygienist’s work closely with coworkers and clients (“Working Conditions” 1). All of these things are very important for a dental hygienist’s success on the job.
Along with the attractive factors, a dental hygienist also has some negative factors. Dental hygienist’s always have to work indoors. Also, when working as a dental hygienist some will be exposed to diseases. Finally, people can sometimes sit in awkward positions while taking care of the patient (“Working Conditions” 1). These things are negative career features to me because I like to be outdoors and I do not like being in weird situations.
In order to become a dental hygienist a certain level of education is required, like a high school diploma. Also, one must complete a dental hygiene program. Finally, to get the job one must pass a state licensing exam (“Preparation” 1). These are just the most important things people have to do in order to become a dental hygienist.
