Denzel Washington was born December 28, 1954, in Mount Vernon, New York; Denzel studied journalism at Fordham University but found more interest in acting. He made his film debut feature in the Carbon Copy in 1981. He also cast on the hit TV shows St. Elsewhere from 1982-1988. Afterwards he started in movie like Man on Fire, The Book of Eli and American Gangster, and won Oscars for his roles in Glory and Training Day.

Washington first took the stage around the age of 7. He appeared in talent shows at his local Boys & Girls Club. The club provided him with a safe place
