Derek (24) gets out of prison, and Marty (26) swings by the California Correctional Center (CCC) to pick him up. After picking his brother up in his father’s truck, the two catch up on old times and hit the California highway. During the conversation, Derek tells Marty he wants to stay out this time and help the family as much as possible. Marty, tells Derek he supports him. The two come to an agreement as Marty enters the entrance for Route 1. A few minutes into the drive, Marty and Derek get into an argument and Derek, tries to grab the steering wheel causing the truck the drift in the other lane. Marty’s able to gain control of the truck again, and swerves back into his lane. Derek pleads with Marty, asking him to drive faster and Marty tells him to “shut up.” …show more content…
While Marty concentrates on the road, Derek breaks the silence by letting out a loud outburst. Marty asks him “what?” and Derek begins to freak out. He turns around and stares out of the back window. After Marty asks him what’s wrong? Derek finally tells him that a cop just got on the highway and he’s right behind them. Marty, tells him to “stop turning around!” and that there’s another vehicle that separates them from the officer. Marty also lets Derek know that the cop has no reason to pull them over. Derek agrees, but still feels uneasy being in his father’s hunting truck. Despite his plans to smoke marijuana, Derek’s actually afraid of violating his parole. The two start arguing once again and Derek, tells Marty that he knows their father favorers him more.
