On the evening of August 11, 1960, a man was murdered and mayhem broke out. Before this climactic event, It was precisely six-forty-three on Maple street. I heard the sound of a roar and saw the flash of a light. I was out on my front lawn striking up a lively conversation with a fellow neighbor when that meteor hit the sky. I heard sounds of switches being turned on and off but never was there a light. An outburst of voices filled Maple Street as my neighbors headed out of their homes and into the street. I dragged myself away from the commotion to check on my car. In the corner of my eye I saw Pete Van Horn volunteering to walk out of the neighborhood to see if Floral Street is experiencing the same situation.

My neighbors gathered in the street to discuss this matter about this unusual power outage. Steve Brands wanted to go to town and try to find the root of the problem, but was stopped by Tommy, Sally’s boy, who told him not to go. Then that Tommy went on and off about aliens who did not want us to leave. And that they sent down a family of aliens in our neighborhood, a mother a father and two kids who look just like us.

The car just wouldn't start, no matter what I do. I got out of my car and walked towards the other residents. Suddenly, the car engine starts up by itself behind me. Just because of my car’s bizarre behavior, I become the object of immediate suspicion. All eyes were on me, filled with accusing looks. And to add to the tension some woman talked about me spending some of my nights looking up at the sky. Why, I only have a case of insomnia.
