Varsity Blues

The school soccer tryouts were coming up. They were going to have them in the new Aux gym we got. The first day had my stomach upside down. I was getting ready for the first day, My heart was racing, and my stomach was flying full of butterflies. I pulled on my socks, and brushed my hair back into a nice tight sleek ponytail. I opened the door to the gym and the smell of new car smacked me in the face. Some of the girls were already in the gym passing a ball around for a few minutes. The gym was filled with silence, but the sound of a foot hitting the ball filled the room with a loud Smack. The girls in the gym hear the door creak open, and slam shut. A tall skinny figure walked through the door, it was are coach. Everyone stops and looks, He tells everyone to line-up, His voice was rough like sandpaper. My heart sank for we were about to start the first drill. The first few drills were fine but the room got worse, the gym started to fill with the smell of sweat and socks. Beside the smell there a lot of older girls, i have played with a few of them in the past but they were really good. I could only think about how good they were and how the coach kept looking

He started fairly quick and we went into a scrimmage, He then proceeded to call names, the names called were going to be on one team and the ones left would be the other team. My name was called but so were the names of the girls who were really good, I knew i would mess something up and they would be mad at me, but at the same time i knew something was not right, why would he have me play with girls who would be on varsity? I was so confused. I then let it go and played with them, the other team had a lot of my friends and they were so happy for me and they kept telling me that i was really good and they just knew i would make varsity.
