A Detroit City Council Skilled Trades Task Force meeting was held on Tuesday, Nov. 24,2015. Stephen Grady, the Chief of Staff of Council President Jones Office, started the meeting by explaining the last. Grady started by saying that with the last meeting being held at the Mathis Center there was a big crowd. this was due to the Mathis Center handing out expungements, the sealing of one's record, on the same day in the same place. Grady laughed and said, “ We had to break the meeting up and have two separate meeting.” There were so many people coming out that Grady had to assure the crowd what the focus was about.Grady says, “This session though we are going to refocus back on the skilled trades. We’re gonna meet with some developers today, find out some opportunities.” The panel board of developers included Laura Rais of thee Mechanical Contractors Association, Sharon Travillion from Travillion Trucking, and Ric Preuss of the AFL-CIO, to name just a few.Ric Preuss was one and the AFL-CIO was one of the main points of the day. …show more content…
Preus is on the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation Board (DESC) and was there to talk about one of the project he’s working on to bring new jobs to the City of Detroit.
