Developmental psychology is the study of how people grow and change through the different stages of their lifetime. Developmental psychologists identify and treat people who have developmental disabilities. They can focus in an educational setting on research and teaching, or they may work in assisted living homes, hospitals, mental health clinics, and homeless centers. They usually obtain an undergraduate degree in psychology, a master’s degree, and a doctoral degree. There are some specialized psychology programs for students who are interested in a more intensive graduate program.
