Where are the facts in this story?
Where is the creative license in this story?
Does this story build tension? If so, how? If not, why not?
What would make it more tense?
What honorable actions, words, or thoughts are in the story?
Are there any dishonorable actions, words, or thoughts that contrast with the honor?
Independent work
Write out a first draft of the story. Read it out loud to self. Revise?
Does it look right?
Does it sound right?
Does it make sense?
Group work
Trios or quads, as available (could be partner again, if not enough students have drafts of a story). Each student tells the story to the group; try not to just read it aloud, but feel free to refer to text as needed. After each story, discuss the following:
Does this story build tension? If so, how? If not, why not?
What would make it more tense?
What honorable actions, words, or thoughts are in the story?
Are there any dishonorable actions, words, or thoughts that contrast with the honor?
What would make this story better?

Revise and rewrite the story into the final draft. Use rubric to self assess. Submit essay and self assessment to teacher for
