Why? This research topic was decided upon due to my personal interest in the area, but also because I have a family member who is at present under the treatment of dialysis. Consequently, I want to gain a deeper understanding of the procedure and what happens within it. This will also assist me to be able to help her.
How? The process of refinement was used in order to get to the topic question. Though before that, a list was made with ideas of what topics I may wish to work upon and ‘Dialysis’ was chosen. The reason to the decision is because it is easier to read, but also the way of presentation can help bring the medical jargon/ terms enfolded within the topic of dialysis forward. Also with the idea of presenting in a booklet format- colours, images and fonts can play a big part in enhancing the information being provided, but also can help in making the appearance look better. Through speaking with professionals, I can understand deeply about the topic, so I can aid my family member as this is my main goal to achieve by the end of this task. I want to be a beneficial source who will be able to guide, support and help her. Socially, learning about the people who look after the individual will be extremely imperative and beneficial as they’ll truly be able to clarify what they see and experience and how it even impacts them. I in my opinion believe that if this booklet was given to a care taker or even an individual who is under treatment, it’ll benefit them in understanding its issues and outcomes, but also in what ways they can provide quality care to the patient. Therefore, the community can support the individuals to keep an open mind and an optimistic approach in their rigid times by connecting them to the community. Carers can further keep them engaged in activities as per their likings and their general health; such as listening to music, meditation, meeting old friends, keeping connections with family
