Everyone’s Alike
There are three short stories that have a similar theme. That theme has to do with respecting others decisions. Although their theme is similar, they are three completely different stories. In the short story Texas vs. Johnson, Johnson burns the American Flag in signs of protest. In the documentary Bullied, Jamie gets picked on for being different. In the short story Without Title, a father doesn’t want to give up his heritage. We all have a different preference on religion, come from different cultural backgrounds or heritages, and overall have different thoughts and opinions in our everyday lives, and it isn’t right for other people to judge individuals for their differences.

All her father could think about were the buffalo’s back home. “It’s hard you know without the buffalo, the shaman, the arrow, but my father went out each day to hunt as though he had them.”(Glancy 1-4). Even though he hasn’t moved on, his wife has. His wife told him to get rid of all his souvenirs. “When he brought home his horns and hides my mother said get rid of them.”(Glancy 11-13). The narrator also talks about how she saw the red buffalo on her father’s chest which stood for his back ground . The theme Glancy has for this story is to never give up tradition. From a century ago to today, the concept of accepting others has stayed constant. Humans aren’t perfectly paired up with each other when it comes to looks, backgrounds, and choices. The quote from Barbara Jordan, “We, as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are different from ourselves.”, ties the stories up into one message. People’s choices can tell a lot about them. It’s easy to criticize the choices made, but hard to punish without knowing much information about the other side of the predicament. We are all humans who have different personalities. We also all have different
