Project Director: Diane W. Hassler Mrs. Hassler is currently the Media Specialist Coordinator for the Cartersville City School District. She began her teaching career 21 years ago with the Cartersville School System as a Spanish and ELL teacher. For five years she taught Spanish to 3rd-5th graders at Cartersville Elementary School and worked with the ELL student population. During this time, ELL materials we not readily available, so Mrs. Hassler created her own curriculum and materials to teach English to the increasing ELL population. After pursing her Masters of Education in Media she became the Media Specialist at Cartersville Middle School. During her 12 years as Media Specialist at Cartersville Middle School, she wrote and received several federal technology grants. Through these grants, teachers received classroom computers, refurbished computer labs, SMART boards, LED projectors, document cameras, laptop carts, and iPads. Mrs. Hassler has also received local grants to provide e-readers and mini-iPads for the Media Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University. She has served libraries as a Customer Care Consultant and trained internal Gale stakeholders as a Research Product Support Specialist before joining the Customer Education team. Conducting customized on-site and online training sessions for libraries throughout the Southeastern U.S. is her specialty. Ms. Mageski is dedicated to providing training that helps schools meet their goals, so that they can effectively support their users’ research and learning needs. Ms. Mageski will be leading day one’s training on databases and how they can help the ELL
