The epic “Beowulf” from the oral tradition is a long narrative about a legendary hero. Beowulf, an epic hero goes on a quest and defeats strong monsters bringing him recognition and eventually becoming king, eventually losing his life while defeating a great monster. Beowulf's bravery and strength let him succeed in his quest, putting his life in danger but gaining respect from the people, and being recognized as a hero even after death. Strength is a major factor in whether a hero can succeed in their quest. In the case of Beowulf, when fighting Grendel, a great monster with the power to kill multiple people with one hand, Beowulf utilized his strength alone to “struggle for life against the monster.” (266-267). Beowulf's ability to fight
