Boudicca was a capable, courageous women who broke the mold for women of her time. In Rome, during Boudicca’s lifetime, patriarchy was in place and men were seen as superior to women. Although, Celtic culture was more advanced regarding women's rights, then Roman culture, they still were not at the level that the world is at today and Boudicca set a precedent for what women could become and achieve("Women"). She is an inspiration to women everywhere. She is an example of hope for women living in oppression, that you can overcome a seemingly invincible enemy. Boudicca also is a prime example that you do not have to stay silent when you are mistreated by someone. She fought back when her body was mutilated and her daughters virginity was violated. Additionally, Boudicca was one of the world's first feminists. Today feminists can look up to her because of the way she bravely and passionately led her people to war when her people were robbed of their freedoms and her and her daughters were mistreated. She did not allow herself and the Iceni to be forced into oppression by the Roman Empire. She put forth her best effort, used the resources available to her to put up a fight against the romans and she inspired her army to fight for their freedom. She is especially a symbol of hope for women all over the world for standing up to a suppressive leader and avenging her daughter's lost virginities and her scarred body. I am personally inspired by her because she is the assertive, confident and courageous women I hope to mature to become. No women should allow herself to be violated and stay silent when she is maltreated. She was especially inspiring to me because today, in the United States, if you are being abused you can go the police and will be protected by the law.
