1.How did his background help prepare him for his major accomplishment(s)? José de San Martín was born in Argentina but his family were originally from Spain. His father, Lieutenant Juan de San Martín, and his growing up experiences had a great impact on his accomplishments for defeating Spanish power in South America. José de San Martín’s father had a solider background, who set up a brave image for José de San Martín. Patience and determination had shown him a great future leader. Because of his father’s job, he returned to Spain and spent quite a long time studying at Royal Academy in Spain. In addition, José de San Martín also joined an army which could accept children under eleven years old. After that, he became a formal member of the Spanish army and started his military career.
