Medieval outlaws acquired many characteristics and traits that allowed them to survive during their time. These different traits included using disguises (trickery), being skilled in weaponry, being smart (clever), good planner, charismatic and many more. To be able to survive, it was important to inhabit most if not all the traits. However, those traits may be enough to survive during the medieval time but are they enough to survive during our modern time with the advances that we currently have. Yes, they are enough to be able to survive in our modern world and I believe that Robin Hood, out of all the medieval outlaws, would thrive today in our modern world. Robin Hood is a character that is known for his archery skills, which is important. Stephen Knight stated in Robin Hood and the Golden Arrow that, “For that was Robin Hood himself, For he was cloathd in red; At every shot the prize he got, For he was both sure and dead” (ll. 86-89). What this means is that every shot that Robin Hood made with his arrow successfully hit the desired targets. This is important because there are a lot of weapons that are used to defeat outlaws in our modern world. However, a bow and arrow is not a weapon that is currently used so that automatically puts Robin Hood at an advantage. Being skilled in archery allows for Robin Hood to have an advantage and so that he can shoot and successfully kill someone from a far distance. This is important because allows for him to be able to go unseen and will add time to the authorities being able to locate where he is at. With the extra time given, Robin Hood can successfully escape without the risk of being caught. With the advanced technology that we currently possess in the creation of more accurate bow and arrows, it makes it easier for Robin Hood to be successful with the skills that he
