The raid in Dieppe didn’t seem like that great of a success to most eyes. Yet this battle did end up having some upside to it too. The Dieppe raid was both a success and a failure. The Dieppe raid wasn’t the best raid out there during the war. A few hundred men died in battle and more were taken prisoner. At that moment everyone saw it as a giant failure. This whole thing seemed like a tragedy. So many lost and so many taken, part of the reason some of the Canadians were there was because they hadn’t seen any action in a long while. So with that in mind, lots of soldiers died because they weren’t ready.They had a very little amount of soldiers (6,088 to be exact) and not enough boats.
