Diet Self-Assessment How important is your health to you? Your health should be the most important aspect of your life. My health is very important to me, because without health you do not have much. ”Health is the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit” (Merriam Webster). I do not meet all my nutritional needs to be overall healthy, but most people do not reach that goal either. Being healthy can be expensive and not everyone can afford to buy the healthiest choices. I try to pick all the healthiest choice imaginable when I am given choices. One improvement that is highly important to your health is physical activity and exercise. I make the excuse of having too much to do and not enough time to exercise. When I do exercise it is not enough to reach the needed recommendation. I absolutely love yogurt and that is about the only dairy product I eat. I do not drink milk or eat much cheese, which cuts out a lot of my dairy source. I do not reach my recommendation of three cups. A third improvement would be to eat more whole grains than refined grains. Most grains that I ingest are refined and not whole grain. Most of the times whole grain products are more costly than refined or other unhealthy grains. “Six ounces is the recommendation that ‘SuperTracker’ recommends I need to consume daily” (SuperTracker). I consume about two ounces, which is a third of what I essentially need. If I consume more foods like whole grain granola bars this will support me to achieve my recommendation. Protein is the opposite of all the previous improvements. Protein is in most meats and is hard not to eat too much of it. This is my problem and the improvement that I need to work on. I usually eat a meat with every meal. This is not a bad thing unless you consume too much at one sitting. Moderation is key when it comes to food
