Through making my own mandala I have come to form a better understanding of the Buddhist concepts Anicca and Dukkha. The notion of Anicca is proven through the impermanence of the mandala, no adhesive was used during its creation causing it to be susceptible to change and damage. The design itself is not meant last but the experience of creating it will remain forever. In creating the mandala, I have also come to understand the conception of Dukkha. The creation process was extremely tedious and stressful at times, this will test a person’s determination and willpower. Personally, I found the experience quite enjoyable as I love creating art and one of my favourite artforms to partake in is pointillism, a similarly tedious medium.
