The famous Napoleon Hill once said, “Think twice before you act because your actions and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” In the play Romeo and Juliet, many lessons are learned. One lesson that is more prominent than the others is think before you act. Three characters that failed to do so were Romeo, Juliet and Friar. As the play shows, obtaining a better understanding before acting can be crucial in better decisions.

Firstly, Romeo shows several times that he rushes decisions, making most of the time wrong or poor. The first action that Romeo did without thinking is kissing Juliet, who was at the time a stranger. This shows how impulsive he was as if he would have known she was a Capulet to not

One huge action that the Friar took without thinking twice was accepting the allowance of the marriage. With him accepting the marriage, eventually led to the death of Romeo, Juliet and a few other people. If he were to think this through he would have made sure that their parents would also accept it to save many lives. Another big mistake that Friar Lawrence made was keeping the marriage a secret. By doing this, the Paris situation would not have happened, therefore, possibly saving Romeo and Juliet's lives. The Friar said, “I’ll thy assistant be” meaning, I'll be your assistant to get this marriage done. Lastly, the Friar gave the plan to fake the death of Juliet. When the letter was not able to be sent to Romeo, he killed himself as did Juliet. If he was to double check on the sender to make sure the plan was foolproof, therefore giving Romeo and Juliet a chance to survive. If the Friar were to think twice about his decisions, lives could have been saved meaning, obtaining a better understanding before making decisions are crucial and making better
