In 1912 the Bread and Roses strike was organized mainly by immigrant workers who worked in the textile industry in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The strike was orchestrated by the Industrial Workers of the World. The strike was due to the cut in hours, which lead to a cut in paychecks. Many of the workers decided to walk out due to the decrease in pay. 14000 workers poured into the streets as an act of rage. The workers want livable wages and respect. The IWW organized the workers to use non violent strikes. The children of workers were sent away due to the lack of supplies. In one case policemen attacked children and women waiting in the railroad stations. The act caused an outrage in the public. The events eventually lead to the victory
