According to ANA “Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations”. Education is and important support for all nurses to prepare them with knowledge, skills and value that permit to provide quality care to all people, we going to discuss on differences between an Associated degree level in nursing ADN and Baccalaureate-degree level in nursing BSN.
Associated degree level in nursing ADN is typically a nurse with two or three years of training in school usually a community college or similar nursing schools, and qualified a nurse to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination NCLEX exam. To get the register nurse licensed.
A Bachelor degree in nurse is typically a nurse with completion of four years of training in school usually a college or University and also qualified a nurse to apply for the national Council Licensure Examination NCLEX.

Either programs, Associated or Bachelor educate the students to complete nursing responsibilities in all main nursing areas like Surgical, Adult nursing, mental health, Maternal and child. Both students learn similarly nursing abilities, practical level, and are similarly prepared for the NCLEX exams and get the Register Nurse certificate. But even if both ADN and BSN pass the exam with the same score, they are not equally prepare in practice and knowledge. The test is minimum knowledge and technical competency to get the RN license. Bachelor programs have a strong emphasis in more material like leadership, nursing theory, physical and social sciences, nursing research, public and community health, nursing management that allow nurses acquired more critical thinking knowledge better decision making and problem solving. This extra study programs increase the qualification, prepare the new nurse for extensive opportunity of practices, and bring more knowledge and understanding of patient problems in the economic, cultural and social problems that affecting patient and impact in the health care system.
Competency: in nursing is the ability to perform the individual task with precision, within the scope of nursing practice that integrates knowledge, skills abilities, and judgment. Some studies have been show that high qualified and educate nurse increase the patient safety outcomes.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in affiliation with American Nurse Association and orders organizations is given to hospital that satisfy a set of criteria designed to measure the quality of nursing, the status of MAGNET, one of the criteria for be a magnet is nursing leaders, manager, and chief nursing officer must have at least BSN degrees as 2013. And the plan is to reach an 80% BSN in the hospital by 2020 (American Association of Colleges of Nursing 2014). It been reveal that hospital with more percent of BSN nurses have better patient outcome, lower medications error, lower infant and adult mortality, lower readmission rates and better patient recovery after surgery. After see all this different between an ADN and BSN, research has demonstrated that nurses with the higher level education like BSN prove to have better patient outcome, than those nurses with an ADN.
I would like to share with you my personal experience to show the difference approaches to decision making between ADN and BSN. When I was a new graduate between 2 and 3 month after the training program, working in a telemetry floor I was taking care a patient with abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, constipation, the doctor, beside all test also ordered an angiogram, the result was positive with a possible mesentery occlusion and I had to call the doctor with the result at 11
