When thinking of school and how the school year plays out, people often think of three stages. The first is the beginning stage, where everything is new and exciting and people are still getting comfortable with their schedules. The second is the dreadful, middle-of-the-year, long stage, where everyone is set in their ways and school feels like it will never end. This starts to happen when it gets cold and does not necessarily stop until one can walk across the school parking lot to their car comfortably. The last stage is the summer mode stage. This stage starts to happen when it is warm outside, and summer break is so close that it is hard to be unhappy with thought of warm weather and sleeping-in in mind. However, with year round schools becoming more popular, the traditional school calendar and the stages that go along with it may soon be less relevant. …show more content…
With all of year round schooling advantages and disadvantages in mind, year round schooling is beneficiary to certain students because it may minimize learning loss from a typical summer break, it may help struggling students, and also help decrease classroom overcrowding; but it is not suitable for all students because of the opportunities that summer break offers, the education cost is greater for the states, and some industries rely on short-term summer
