What is a discourse community? A discourse community is an interactive group that shares common discourses. Meaning that they share a common set of values that similar towards others. Most of society belongs to a discourse community that share values or even similar personalities. The discourse communities that I joined I wanted them to have activities that suited my personality. Example: I like culture and I like to involve myself in culture based activities such as Art or even Culinary Arts. I wanted to experience the difference in my culture and other cultures. Mainly to get me to interact with the other kids because I did not talk much. Unfortunately, their plans did not work out, but the wound up leaving to another church that was closer in distance. Then my parent put us in the girl scouts, so we could interact with kids out own and my dad wanted us to learn about leadership at an early age. Before they shut-down the girl scout’s in my community, I wound up traveling to with them and went to the museum of the founder of the girl scouts and I stayed with the troop until I was 10 years old. Another discourse community I joined was the children’s praise dance team and choir at the age of 7 years old. There were two reasons why I joined these communities. First reason, my parents suggested to get involved in some activities. And the second reason, most of my family had some type of Fine art back ground; meaning the are very gifted and most of them were made a career out of it. I wanted to fine out I was good at any of these, but a few years later I wound up quitting the dance team. Let’s just say it was not my cup of tea. Later, when I turned 10 years old I joined my school choir hoping that I would at least get better, and the following year I joined my school band. But after a few years, I wounded up not joining the choir in high school after I graduated middle school and I stopped going to the youth choir before high …show more content…
I honestly math came easy for me, because I was taught to keep up with the tempo of the music. Thankfully playing in the band came naturally for me and I liked the challenge in trying to learn an instrument. I played for in a couple of competitions and a few concerts as well. I continued playing until my sophomore year in high school. I lost interest in high school; it seemed like it was more of a chore rather something to enjoy and the students made it harder for me too so, I had to leave. Before I quit the band in my sophomore year I joined the culinary arts club and the art society. I always loved making food, I started cooking around 6 to 7 years old under supervision of course. Slowly my parents had me help-out in the kitchen then they let me practice making backed goods and later, they started to let cook by myself. I watched cooking shows to and I would just read the cooking books for hours just to see if we had the ingredients in the house. Some of my family members had me come
