In America, there are many problems that occur in our everyday lives, one of which is the persistence of discrimination in our country. In the past 10 years, an increasing amount of violence flamed by this problem has been present. Due to the recent presidential election, many people see immigrants as a threat to our nation and discriminate against them and even citizens who have lived here their whole lives. A nation established by immigrants should not withstand such injustice in our society. This problem can be solved by an ample tolerance among the people of our country. For example, many of the riots that occur are caused by an officer shooting a person of color. This is because people of color believe that using a ‘race card’ will get empathy from others, however it just causes more problems. I believe that the main problem with racial discrimination is that in today’s society, no one has a set idea of what it looks like which causes some to use it to their advantage. However, another type of discrimination is still present between Americans and immigrants (legal or illegal), now people assume that everyone who isn’t an American is planning to take away jobs and that the only solution is to build a wall that can help keep them out, even though these people help our economy. We need to understand how the system works and not assume that everyone who speaks another language is our enemy.

As seen in the example of the LGBTQ community, many older generations are not used to, while more and more people being open about their ‘different’ ways of living. However, many people do not realize that the LGBTQ community has been a part of the world for a much longer time than they believe. We just need to accept others the way they are and be able to judge people by their personalities and actions, not their way of living. This is very relevant to younger generations due to fear of rejection by their peers and family. People are pushed to extremes, and sometimes have untimely
