Disease Trends & the Delivery of Health Care Services This document will discuss how demographics disease trends affect the delivery of health care. Starting with current age composition of the United States population and how future changes will occur in the next 10 to 20 years. Next will be identifiable factors that support environmental and changing demographic trends. Providing examples of relevant diseases and how the aging trend will increase or decrease health issues and how to reduce health complications because of age. Educated people what is a healthy diet and how often he or she should exercise is also important. Just by taking a brisk 20 minute walk daily will help promote exercise and decrease body fat. Another healthy way to exercise is by riding a bike or swimming any exercise is better than nothing. Exercise also will improve current health issues related to obesity such as high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. The future and how health care delivery will adapt to provide care for age-related health issues has been a concern for many years. With changing composition in population increasing this puts more pressure on health care issues. Last year over 77 million Baby Boomers turned 65 and are considered the fastest growing part of population. It is also coming to surface with the elderly population will increase in race or ethnicity. Because of demographic trends the health care costs is on high alert. With the cost of medical care increasing this has put into effect many changes to help reduce these costs. The occurred changes have effected how the care is provided to the elderly. This has increased Medicare and provisions on long-term care with promoting assisted living or home care options. It is speculated that because of these concerns the quality of care provided to the elderly may be jeopardized and costly. With
